Rise from your snuggly sleeping bag and emerge to the scent of evergreens and fresh coffee brewed in the great outdoors.

Fork in a hearty breakfast in the company of book-loving friends and anticipate a day that will be memorable for its scenery, camaraderie and delightful conversation.

Take in the birds and wildflowers as we step onto a forest trail that will wind to the shore of Lake Superior. We’ll be wowed by the pre-Cambrian sandstone gorges and the tumbling water as we walk through the Houghton Falls nature preserve.

Lunch is an open-air picnic and then it’s off to the city that Travel & Leisure names as one of “23 Best Places to Go in 2023.” Views abound in Bayfield and there will be time to ramble through the streets, ending up at one of Wisconsin’s most charming bookstores for a special afternoon.

Browse the nooks and crannies of this historic bookseller and then join us on the patio for coffee, treats and a special interview between Kerri and Wisconsin writer, Carol Dunbar about her book, “The Net Beneath Us,” which is on the trip’s reading list.

Sated with fresh air and spirited conversation about books, we’ll head for a delicious farm-to-table meal at a local cafe. As we sip & nosh, we’ll talk about the day’s pleasures and our favorite reading experiences.

We’ll roast s’mores around the campfire as we indulge in one last treat for an exceptional day!
